Hi everyone, Brian here. I’m going to start posting my work from Instagram & other sites and do more of a deep dive that I can’t always do in a social media post. I also want to sharpen my writing and thought process.

Thoughts are not facts, Don’t believe everything in your head is a piece I did a couple weeks ago. It’s a theme that’s been on my mind a lot the past few months and felt very relevant leading up to the 2020 US election.

I’ve started to take notice how often we mix up our opinions with reality. I’m talking about the thoughts and ideas formed in the vacuum of our mind, often induced by an assumption, and through a bit of a mental blind spot, we forget that our opinion doesn’t equal or negate actual fact-based reality. Reality, as in the world or the state of things as they actually exist, as opposed to an idealistic or notional idea of them (definition taken from Oxford Dictionary.)

This piece is a reminder, mostly to myself, that we don’t need to believe everything that runs through our mind, and to give less weight to opinions of people we don’t know because they are nothing more than that, an opinion.
